Load Rating:
Testing by CSIRO in accordance with AS/NZS 1462.22:1997 (known
as the PVC Stiffness test) demonstrated that The Green Pipe has
similar Stiffness/Load ratings to PVC pipes of similar dimensions.
These ratings vary from SN 6 for the 250mm pipe to SN 4 for
larger sizes.
Culvert Installation:
Plastic pipes absorb load by transferring that load to the surrounding
soil. Concrete pipes absorb load by transferring that load vertically
to the bottom of the channel. Accordingly it is essential that
plastic pipes be correctly compacted on all sides.
Friction Rating:
The friction (or Manning Rating) of The Green Pipe is similar
to Smooth Bore Concrete at 12.
Flow Rates:
Flow rates are dependant upon pressure (head of water) and length
of pipeline. The following tables assume a pipeline of 100metres
in length and without bends or fittings and full of water.
